1. Creativity and Problem Solving Within the last 50 years, however, researchers have largely rejected this idea. Instead, they have identified many other factors that can influence creativity. They have found that creativity is much closer to American inventor Thomas Edison’s idea. He said (sometimes referring to ‘invention’ and sometimes referring to ‘genius’): What it boils down to is one per cent inspiration and ninety-nine per cent perspiration’.
